Chad 206 Restoration

Here's a video that covers one of our projects from start to finish. This MAF airplane operated in Chad, Africa, and was damaged in a wind storm. MAF disassembled the airplane, secured it in a shipping container, and shipped it to us for restoration and repair. This is the type of work we regularly do and it illustrates the depth of aviation maintenance experience our apprentice mechanics regularly receive.

Moody Aviation's Cessna 182 Assembly: Video

Here's another time-lapse video by our apprentice Paul Jones. This time he's captured the basic reassembly process of Moody Aviation's Cessna 182. For those of you who regularly follow the blog you'll remember the many and on-going posts related to this project. Yesterday's post featured the 182 as will more posts in the future. Enjoy Paul's video. It's just a glimpse into some of what we do here at MMS as we prepare people and planes for worldwide mission service. Cessna 206 Disassembly Time-Lapse Video

It's not unusual for aircraft in remote locations to be disassembled and then sent to us in shipping a container for restoration and repair. Such was the case of the Cessna 206 recently completed for MAF. And, once the restoration and repair was completed, the aircraft needed to be disassembled and "containerized" for the trip back to Africa.

What was unusual about the process is that one of our apprentices, Paul Jones, chronicled the entire restoration in a slide show and featured the disassembly and packing of the 206 as a time-lapse video. The video opens with pictures of the aircraft damaged in Africa, moves through its arrival and restoration at MMS, and finishes with the time-lapse portion of "crating" the 206 for its return trip. We hope you enjoy the feature. Special thanks to Hugh and Norma who came down to oversee the containerization.

Trouble-Shooting the Chad 206

Here are two videos illustrating one of the key components of aviation maintenance: trouble-shooting. Trouble-shooting is the process of identifying a problem, working to find the source of the problem, and then arriving at a solution to the problem.

The first video identifies a problem discovered while preparing the Chad 206 for its successful test flight Monday afternoon. The second video shares the source of the problem and the solution. These are great and really provide an interesting insight into the day to day reality of maintaining missionary aircraft around the world. Paul, one of our apprentice mechanics, is the videographer.
